Hong Kong Disneyland 10K Weekend

10/09/2016 09:00

Hong Kong Disneyland 10K Weekend will be held on Sep 10 and 11 (Sat and Sun), the first official race to run inside the park. This includes the Mickey 10K Run, Duffy 5K Fun Run, Mickey & Minnie 3K Family Run, and Kids Races (100m and 200m). The Mickey 10K Run, will be held on Sep 11 (Sun), and public registration begins on May 30, 2016. Package price is HK$899, including 1-day general admission ticket for Hong Kong Disneyland and 1 event T-shirt. For details, please visit: https://www.hongkongdisneyland.com/events/10k-weekend/

Re: Hong Kong Disneyland 10K Weekend

That price is outrageous. Excluding park entry that is around $400 for a 10k race, not even for a charity.

Re: Hong Kong Disneyland 10K Weekend

I totally agree! It's even worse value for those with annual passes:
Gold and Platinum card members still have to pay HK$650.
What about those with Silver membership? No mention. Guess they'll have to cough up the full $899! :O
The 3K family race is even more extortionate: •Package prices are HK$599 for adult and HK$449 for child. $1048 for a father-son 3K race!!! (Again, Silver members still need to pay for the full package with 1-day passes even though their membership should cover most days of the year...)

Re: Hong Kong Disneyland 10K Weekend

In addition, I'm not sure what the route would be like. If the 10K route is entirely within the park, then there will be several loops. I'm basing this from the fact that UNICEF 10K route has to be along the roads around Disneyland Park, encompassing the park. And that's just one loop.

The 3K and 5K races apparently are NOT completely within the Park, which kind of makes sense to reduce congestion within the park.

Would be interesting how they allow family members to be supporters within the Park - will we all need to pay entrance fee? Or they close off the entire park for just this race day? Questions, questions :P

Re: Hong Kong Disneyland 10K Weekend

OMG...are these race organizers really think the HK runners are that stupid to pay this high price. Go to USA and run a real Disneyland race in California or Florida like I did. They are 10x better and the medals are great. This HK Disneyland is a joke and I am sure the race people that set up this race is not American. Go to America and run in a real race.

Re: Hong Kong Disneyland 10K Weekend

always willing to support HK sports...joined the 10k fun run . although if no one else joined prehaps i should have joined the race and taken the first prize in my age haha

the price is not that bad for T shirt , medal and a one day entry pass worth $539

Re: Hong Kong Disneyland 10K Weekend

You're not supporting HK sports. You're supporting HK Disneyland.

Re: Hong Kong Disneyland 10K Weekend

not seen the final course route yet but i see HKAAA will recognise it as a record so i guess the course should not be too bad.

i also note some of our entry goes to my favourite charity ....children with cancer

Re: Hong Kong Disneyland 10K Weekend

I'm in town from Orlando FL. this week and wanted to run, but can't get a bib. It's not everyday you get the chance to run in the Disneyland HK park.

Re: Hong Kong Disneyland 10K Weekend

well organised fun event . lucky with the weather . plenty of water along the route and ample bananas and drinks at the finish....many photo ops along the disney route . lovely medal and we will be visiting disney again with the general admission ticket later this month.....hope weather cooler.....

Re: Hong Kong Disneyland 10K Weekend

hi Mikec, congrats on the race.
Could you help elaborate abit more on the route? Was it afew laps weaving in and out of the theme park zones?

Was it rather tight to run along cordoned paths?
Was any part of the race outside of the theme park?

The Standard mere said the following:
"Those who signed up for longer runs were able to go through themed zones for the first time, including Main Street, USA, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, Adventureland, Toy Story Land, Grizzly Gulch and Mystic Point."

Re: Hong Kong Disneyland 10K Weekend

Michael , basically we started form the carpark area same as the olympic , unicef etc ....then we followed the same route along the road out towards the inspiration lake . but instead of turning right around inspiration we turned left along the left side of the lake around towards the seashore . then after passing the ferry pier we turned into Disneyland proper for the last two km through the park .

this was good as it thinned out the runners before we hit the theme park . also separating the 10K and the 5K runners meant there was no clash and we could enjoy more of the park .

this was always just going to be a fun run for me so made no attempt at all to run fast....actually see no point as the main reason for me to join is to enjoy the run through the park , take some pics and have some fun .

what was good was i did not see many pokemon players blocking the route......this has been a problem in singapore.....the one girl i did see playing pokemon was actually told off by her friends who were running with her

not many costumes , i guess Hong Kong runners are not used to running in costumes , the few i did see were japanese runners.....

well worth running again . certainly more interesting than pounding up and down tolo....

Re: Hong Kong Disneyland 10K Weekend

Thanks MikeC for the commentary! Eases my fear that it's just afew loops inside. Sounds like they did s good job of managing the mass of runners too!
