Re: HAPPY CHRISTMAS

Belated Christmas wishes to you too MikeC!
See you tomorrow at the Pricerite 10K hopefully! (I'll be wearing a yellow ActiveAsia tank top, don't think there'll be many runners with that on)

Re: HAPPY CHRISTMAS

Merry christmas & happy new year! Thank you for maintaining this website over the years. Picking up running from couch to 5K, 10K then marathons and ultra marathons has improved my personal health and sense of wellbeing tremendously, to say the least, and I'm sure those of many others.

One observation over the years is there seems to be less and less comments (maybe from less and less visits by runners?) on this website. Personally I believe this has to do with a combination of reasons, mainly the preference of Internet surfing or social media on mobile phones over PCs. My suggestion to Keith - if time, budget and all else allow - build a mobile version of HKRunners.com.

Re: HAPPY CHRISTMAS / mobile site?

Hi Dadada,
Happy New Year to you too! Astonished to hear that you have reached ultramarathon status! Congratulations! I've still yet to get to that stage yet, would be great to hear about your story and how you got there!

Yes, agree that it's pretty much the same voices on this forum. When I first stumbled across it, I got to make some friends and we joined some other runners along the way. Long story short, the proliferation of social media (Twitter, FB, Instagram, blogs, etc) all has a diversion of attention away from this site, since the focus there is on the social aspect of running, logistics of meetups, and where to eat (the ultimate reward for a long run in a group!) Such topics are not really that relevant here, thus the attention has swung off at a tangent to those hubs.

Having said that, of course a mobile-friendly version would be great, but there's a certain cost involved in the development and upkeep of it. I think Keith and I had a conversation about it some time ago, and while I would love to help out too, I'm almost reaching the limits of my personal free time, and I'm sure its the same with Keith the administrator and owner too. Do you have any suggestions or leads on how such a transition/evolution might be easily faciliated?
