Re: Stefano 2:27 at Rotterdam Marathon

I think that is the HKAAA record, maybe Keith can confirm.
Also, 30th place in such a prestigious international marathon is exceptional.
Well done Stefano!

Re: Stefano 2:27 at Rotterdam Marathon

Congratulations to Stefano for this excellent time.

As a matter of fact (based on the HM PB), he has the potential to run much faster, maybe around 2h22', but this time all the training has been affected by a persistent leg strain so he could not really train properly and it is a "miracle" that he could complete the race...

I think now Thomas is getting ready for a marathon soon, so we should see another good time from a HK-based runner.

Hi Mr Smooth

Not yet!

HK Record
MARATHON 2:21:10 PAUL SPOWAGE HKDRC LONDON 13-May-1984

HKAAA Record
MARATHON 2:17:27 TED TURNER HKDRC HONG KONG 20-Feb-1983

But likely the highest position for "Hong Kong" in Rotterdam Marathon history.

Re: Stefano 2:27 at Rotterdam Marathon

I red, all your comments and I'd like to thank for the nice words.

Indeed it was a tough season for me, started with a DQ, too many races and too many injuries.

But anyway, those few seconds of improvement from my previous PB mean a lot to me at a season end. I was so motivated getting it staring at the chrono of the finish line and sprinting in the last 150 meers that i ended up at the ER with a nice female dutch doctor taking care of me and giving me a hot magnaesium and glucose drips!! (kind of funny coz I wasn't able to walk/talk anymore!)

Anyway, never relized before this year how running can be so deeply affected by people around you. I feel like a team with Roberto and sometimes just lending my legs and lungs to his strategies and training methods, then my new running mates in DB, HKAAA that movitated me with several invitation to represent HK, AVOHK and my closest accepting a very unusual life style!!All this contribute to achieving new higher goals.

Of course being a follower of the "Robertism" high milage is king but is almost as important as a correct life style, good motivating environment and wise race planning.

I look fw for next season and to get closer to Mr Spowage of course aiming to replace his name from the HK records ;)(with all due respect for Mr Spowage!)

See you all on the road!!
