Chung Hing Cup Tsuen Wan 10K

The 9th Annual Chung Hing Cup Tsuen Wan 10K - Super Summer Challenge Race will be held on August 16 (Sun) at Shingmun Reservoir Cathwater in Tsuen Wan. Quota is 999. Five age groups for men and four for women, plus a team race of three. Entry fee is HK$120 plus HK$100 for Championchip deposit. Transportation to the race is available for HK$20 from either Tin Hau or TST. See attached files for more details.

999! What a strange quota. Is it the lucky number (meaning long lasting in Cantonese) of the organiser?

Judging from the experience in RRAC Summer Run , I will interprete the number 999 as a warning for emergency conditions (999 in HK & 911 in US); Mid-August Summer Run is quite a risky challenge. Those run very fast for prizes and those with inadequate training should be reminded the danger of heat stroke (it can be minor as dizziness / fatigue / exhaustion but can also be life-threatening). Keep well hydrate (before, during & after the race. Consider taking a bottle of water to drink & also to cool down your head during the course if you are not preparing to win any prize. Hope every runner can finish the course safely with their best efforts BUT within the limitation of physical strength. 盡力而為、量力而為：長跑長(友)。

http://hk.myblog.yahoo.com/dmc7779 Good points about the heat.... also I am afraid need to remind all runners that no illegal parking can be allowed at this location as it can obstruct the ambulances access route . Last year most of the runners were very good and did not park . Those that did paid an extra amount to government for taking part in the race ! Strict control needs to be maintained to ensure we dont experience the problems of other years when ambulances were blocked by selfish people . Please pass this message to other running sites so that no runners have any unhappy feelings when they return form the run to find a ticket ......

Was this the 1 race that Thomas Kiprotich lost last year ( I think a Taiwanese guy won)? It would be good to see a rematch.

Indeed Thomas did 32'38" while Ho Chin Pin (Taiwan) did 32'11" But that was one year ago and now Thomas do regularly 31' for 10K with great improvements.

Just learnt that the quota is full as informed by HKMP. Mr. Li Ho Tung advised no further entry will be entertained.
