Help me run Berlin in under 4 hours!

Hi guys, I've just joined this site so treat me gently! I'm running the Berlin marathon in September and need to get some proper training going. Currently I'm up to about 10-15k distance on my longer runs. But the thing is I get so bored! Are there any clubs with structured training plans anyone can recommend? Thanks all!

Re: Help me run Berlin in under 4 hours!

What is your weekly volume? How many times a week do you run? How long does 15k currently take? Any running/sport background? There is a list of clubs on this site - I don't know if they have structured programmes, but there will be plenty of people who can give you advice.

Re: Help me run Berlin in under 4 hours!

Hi, At the moment I'm doing anything from 5k a week up to about 30k and running anything from once a week up to about four days a week. See, unstructured to say the least! I did 16k the other day in 1.17 so I guess 15k would be about 1.12 or so. I've done a couple of marathons before - London (4.01) and New York (4.23) in 2007. But both were just from me going out, running a bit, doing a bit more the next week. I have no idea what I should be doing! I had a look at the list of clubs, but wondered if anyone had any recommendations. I've heard loads about AVOHK as they seem to be involved with virtually everything, but don't have any training sessions, other than the Wanchai Gap Saturday run.

Hi Leedseagle, Come along to the Saturday Session and we can discuss a way to get your time down. Drop me an email directly and I can give you more details. phopper@netvigator.com Thanks Peter

Re: Help me run Berlin in under 4 hours!

I am considering this year Berlin but not enrolled yet. Like you, Sub4 will also be my target. May be we have a chance to run the same Marathon again to break this barrier.

You can find a running club and run with friends. That may help with the boredom of running. There are many good clubs. To run faster, you will need to run more consistenly.
